About Our Time & Date Tools

Time arithmetic is uniquely challenging because it mixes base-60 (60 seconds per minute, 60 minutes per hour), base-24 (24 hours per day), and irregular calendar months (28 to 31 days plus leap years). Our Time & Date Calculators automate duration addition/subtraction, time zone conversions, exact chronological age tracking, and distance-rate-time velocity calculations.

How to Choose the Right Time & Date Calculator

  • 1For work hours, time cards, and global meetings: Use the Time Calculator to add or subtract hours/minutes/seconds, find elapsed time between timestamps, or convert across international time zones.
  • 2For birthdays, retirement eligibility, and historical spans: Use the Age Calculator to compute exact years, months, days, total hours lived, and countdown to your next birthday.
  • 3For travel time and pace estimation: Use the Speed Calculator to solve for average speed, travel duration, or total distance in mph, km/h, m/s, or knots.

Frequently Asked Questions (Time & Date)

How do I convert minutes into decimal hours for payroll?

Divide the number of minutes by 60. For example, 8 hours and 45 minutes equals 8 + (45 / 60) = 8.75 decimal hours.

How are leap years handled in date and age calculations?

A year is a leap year (366 days with February 29) if it is divisible by 4, except for end-of-century years which must also be divisible by 400 (such as 2000).
